Thanks for the clarity. So, to summarise:
1) ShowMax adaptive streaming allows a resolution of up to 720p
2) DSTV now adaptive streaming allows for a resolution of up to 1080p (depending on content)
Is there any chance of getting surround sound (DD 5.1) with either streaming / VOD service?
@Sybawoods, The highest streaming option is 1080p. As in the case of Showmax, the resolution is automatically selected based on your connection speed and device. This will also depend on whether the content itself is at the 1080p standard.
Hi @Sybawoods, Showmax content is delivered via adaptive streaming up to HD (720p). The resolution is automatically selected based on your connection speed and device. There's no 4k streaming option at this stage.
We'll with our support team regarding DStv Now resolution and provide feedback.
I notice that 1080p is available as an option for streaming quality on DSTV Now (as opposed to 1080i on the Explora). Is this correct and technically, does this mean that with sufficient bandwidth we now have better quality via streaming than with a decoder?
Does the 1080p also apply to ShowMax? Would it be possible to get a 4k streaming option?
