How to use Macros?

Re: How to use Macros?

Here's a possible browser macro creation solution for Firefox and Chrome:

https://a9t9.com/kantu

I was able to make a macro for the mark-all-posts-read sequence, but although it worked properly I then couldn't get the macro to save :-(

Not going to fiddle with that for now.

Pity... it also allows one to make a bookmark out of it (actually it's then commonly called a bookmarklet), and dragging that to the desktop allows for a shortcut with a keyboard shortcut key - so the function can then be accessed very easily.

And here's a wider-use macro tool for IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc. (not one I can use normally as this Windows is too old for it);

https://imacros.net/

Firefox recommends either of the above.

I presume so, and when I deleted the macro the button disappeared.

So I will only see that button after making at least one macro?

Re: How to use Macros?

If you meant you've got no Mac button when posting, that only pops up if you've made a "macro".

Re: How to use Macros?

Please double check Geoff, see the pic of mine.

It can't be another Lithium-fiddled-with-my-ID factor as I noticed macros months ago.

There's no "Mac" function available to all of us ......

Re: How to use Macros?

That's on par from what I've read about Lithiums macros.  Mainly to include repetitive stuff.  Should have called it a clipboard... more accurate Smiley Happy

Re: How to use Macros?

I've just seen that there's now a "Mac" list-button next to the "Quote" button when I'm posting, so it's not a true macros function, just used for posting repetitive text info.

Also interesting to note that when I hover my mouse over the above link I posted, my browser instead suggests it's the URL for this thread... :-/

How to use Macros?

The following link is on the home page; "Mark all posts in Community as Read"

Clicking on it there works fine.

When trying to save the option's link as a bookmark it gets all confused, not able to "find the page" and the environment then suggests one isn't logged in (until changing to another forum page).

So clearly the use of this "link" is subject to the page it's sourced from.

But I don't want this extra effort to clear all new posts so I then thought to make a Macro for this in my User settings;

Title 1: Mark all posts as read

Macro 1: (The software joins the two lines I entered with the <br> command.)

https://community.dstv.com/<br>https://community.dstv.com/t5/community/page.communitymarkread?t:cp=c...

(Here's the second "link"'s specific wording: ...t5/community/page.communitymarkread?t:cp=community/contributions/markedactions)

Looks feasible... but how does one select a Macro for use here?? Doesn't seem to be in any menus and it's not something like the keyboard's F1 key. Anybody know or have any ideas?
