Re: Single View HD 5s

I managed to compare the list I got from Optomist to the current frequencies on my setup, and most seems in order, apart from 2 settings which the BC noted on their list as "to be updated or binded" to the new frequency. I am still in the same position as yesterday but do thank you guys GeoffD and Optomist for the assistance. GeoffD if you dont mind, you mentioned you have some settings - could I check yours as well and compare and see if it works. The channels that are not working, apart from others, are SABC 1, 2 & 3 | Comedy Central | Vuzu | FOX life & FOX HD | Trace Urban HD and a few more. Now what I've noticed is that 2 of my transposed frequencies failed to bind. The error message is something along these lines......"failed to bind as transposed frequency is not same as parentID..." Anything you can suggest on that?

Re: Single View HD 5s

Thanks Optimist - I'll compare what I'm setup with to the frequencies on your list - hopefully that will give me the full list. Will keep you updated...

Re: Single View HD 5s

Thanks again GeoffD and Optimist - hope to get some additional info from you guys soon, to get that last transponders' frequencies sorted. One thing I must say, and I am not sure if I am being too critical, as my technical knowledge is very limited, but MC just tried too much in too little time - and all at the expense of so many subscribers. The solution you provided is simple yet effective. Question is.....what how long it will last. I am almost certain that should the complex experience an outage, and my and a few other decoder boots up after power is back on again and the settings/frequencies/tuners etc are ONLY partially saved. Then I'd have to follow the same steps GeoffD rightfully provided. At least I'd know what to do now....what about the next MC subscriber with a similar problem?

Re: Single View HD 5s

Sorry guys, my list is hopelessly out of date by now for accuracy. The good news is that there's few enough transponders that I can list them here, and the associated channels this list shows will still be fairly accurate as they aren't moved too often.

Please note that I'm hardly even reading tech threads anymore, and am not specifically alerted when my hyperlink-name is used.

Re: Single View HD 5s

Optimist used to maintain a complete channel listing per transponder on the old forum. But, mainly because this Community does not make it easy to do so, he stopped. None of us bother either anymore.

There are a number of new transponders added, probably more than can be handled by many existing MUD installations. MC did apparently inform all BCs registered with them of then need to do a upgrade which essentially means abandoning the old systems and either installing a Unicable setup , a fibre based distribution system, or a full 4-cable distribution system. If MC take the next step and implement hi band correctly, many channels are going to be not available.

As soon as I am able to get to my laptop, I can look up what new transponders have been added.

Unless of course Optimist replies because he still maintains his records ......

Re: Single View HD 5s

Thanks GeoffD - this seemed to work and just as you said, there are some channels missing. I am thinking it could be that there was one frequency that I dont have the transposed freq for - that the BC did not provide me with. Think it was 11808 Still a pain as I lose out on channels - but better than before. Any suggestions on the 11808 frequency?

Re: Single View HD 5s

Reset the decoder to factory defaults. Reboot the decoder. Set up exactly according to the settings provided by the BC. Make sure you are in the home network screen and save the settings. Then switch off the decoder and reboot. Check that the settings are as you set them. Should then work.

Any deviation from these settings will mean the decoder will give errors. If the complex has not updated their SMATP system, you could still find some channels missing. Until at least the transponders used for EPG  and other sw and settings are receivable, this decoder will not function properly. The default settings are for a unicable connection.

Re: Single View HD 5s

Normally, you cannot deviate from  the settings provided by the BC for full functionality in any way.

Could you please give us a full run down on what the settings are as supplied by the BC?

We may be able to see what is causing the error message even though it is not one we have encountered before. You should be aware though that the 5S decoder defaults to unicable working. Most complexes do not provide for unicable working. Hence, it is likely that the problem is related to this aspect.

How many satellite universal connections are available in your complex, one or two?

Re: Single View HD 5s

Thanks for the swift reply - I will keep searching the forum to find a similar scenario, but will get into contact with the BC/Installers no later than tonight. Will definitely post any feedback right here.

Re: Single View HD 5s

There's good installation knowledge on this forum, so far, but E600 is not a known error code and goes way beyond the range we're used to (E106 is closer to the highest number previously).

Complex type installations already normally go beyond the scope of what's discussed here and to add to that this fault is not a normal situation, any guesswork I expect you may see given here is unlikely to help enough IMO.

So suggest you ask your BC to put you in touch with their installers for the complex, only they are likely to understand enough to give sufficient detail.

Please feed back when you come right.
