Another method sometimes suggested for this kind of setup;

 

Divert the cable in the other room back to your decoders' room for the other decoder to use.

Or, put the 5u in the other room if that makes more sense, but then you need a cable between rooms anyway for the HB (HeartBeat).

That means you have a set of BC provided SMATV settings to be able to receive all the channels. That means an XV setup with more than one decoder is nigh on impossible.

You could try to get a wideband splitter with DC pass on one leg installed and connect the second decoder to the port with no DC pass and see if it will work.

Only 1 lnb connection in wall. One cable to other room.

Depends on what facilities are provided to you from the communal antenna. How many LNB connections are there and what are they? Universal connections?

Is there any special BC supplied network configuration settings provided to you?
