The Lounge

Re: The Lounge

Optimist, that's the joy of being on retirement. Simply don't set any alarms anymore and if I wake up too early, like before 8 am, I can simply roll over and fall asleep again. I find this fairly easy to do because it only takes a couple of moments thinking about all the other poor characters having to go to work, before I fall asleep again. With a happy grin on my face as well.

Re: The Lounge

Been away in Durban for a few days so haven't bothered to visit the Community Forums during that time. Saw a sprinkling of snow on a couple of the mountain peaks while flying over them but not too much. Guess the snow must have mostly melted by now with only the occasional light dusting still taking place.

GeoffD was that photo taken by yourself when you returned home?

Actor Burt Reynolds passed away on Thursday aged 82. R.I.P. He gave us some real light-hearted entertaining movies.

Recently we had another electric cables theft incident, learnt something really helpful from it.

This time it happened in our street, late one night. The replacement cables were the interesting part - from what was said to us, it turns out that Eskom and / or our municipality have now been doing the replacing with theft-proof cabling - looks like they're made of steel or aluminium, I would think some sort of electrically useful alloy design that's got little resale value. Excellent !

Would be interesting to find out what the replcement cables are, and the technical specs.  The problem is that it comes at a cost of power transmission efficiency, which means more power losses and hence pressure on tarriffs to make up for the losses.
