Does their TV Guide not include HD in the channel name like on DSTV? Unfortunately their on-screen logo doesn't say HD.

If it is the NA9200 then for sure it should be.
There is a sw upgrade that is supposed to take place over the air. If it is an older model decoder, then it is possible that the sw upgrade has not yet happened.

1 SABC channels 1,2,3 on all models of the OVHD decoders are now HD.
2 OPENPVR is available on the NA 9200 decoder. The next to be upgraded over the air is the DSD1465. Then the other models will follow.
3 Only selected channels are recordable however. No specific indication has been given as to which channels are recordable, but it appears that the SABC channels are not.
4 The 64 GB USB stick gives you 18 hours of storage. The sticks are supposed to be use able with any model. Not sure if they are interchangeable.
Hi GeoffD- are you sure all models now have SABC in HD - I have the original Ellies model - it looks like SABC is still in Standard definition - when you hit the info button it shows 576i not 1080i

Thanks for the info. Not at home to confirm.

Yes apparently so. SABC 1,2,3 all HD on OVHD.
BUT, so far ONLY confirmed for those with the Ellies NA 9200 decoder, after a sw upgrade.
Seems those with the elcheapo Game supplied OVHD decoder don't even get SABC 1,3 in HD!
As an aside, the game decoder is supplied by the same manufacturer as the 5 series MC HD decoder, model 5S.
Figures!

Apparently SABC 2 is now in HD format on the Openview HD service...
