The Wifi light is white but if i check on the DSTV Menu - the Connectivity Checker - it i=says that it is not connected.

I struggle the get the 'dstvwifilocal link to open up. Could i ask you the following:
should my laptop not be connected to the wifi when i enter the link?

Appreciate your help!

Been a while since I've done this...so I had dig up my old connector and go through the steps

Wifi on the laptop should be off. Connect a lan cable between laptop and wifi connector. Power on wifi connector , connecting the supplied usb cable either to laptop or other usb charger.  Wait for power light to turn solid white.  In the browser type dstvwifi.local and enter. You'll see the setup page. From there Wireless settings, scan for networks. This can take a little while. Select your router and connect. Make sure you have internet connectivity.

Unplug power and lan cable , go plug it into your Explora. Check network settings, connectivity test

Re: Connecting DStv wifi connector

No pardon needed... I'm almost there myself Smiley Very Happy Should've said "connect the laptop to the DSTV WiFi adapter with a network cable, then do the dstvlocal thing" .

Glad you're sorted

Re: Connecting DStv wifi connector

Now I,m lost.

The wifi router is all I have. How do I connect a network cable (and where)?

Re: Connecting DStv wifi connector

Don't connect via WiFi to the DSTV connector, use a network cable. That's why you have to kill your laptop wifi first

Connecting DStv wifi connector

Hi,

I moved to a Retirement Village and installed a Huawei wifi (mobile router) from Telkom and am now connected to  the internet.

My old wifi connector from my old adsl setup now needs to be connected to this new wifi. I connected it to my laptop as indicated in the setup instructions,  but I can't get my laptop to open http://dstvwifi.local/. The message reads (as far as I remember) "dstvwifi.local refused to open".

The directions tell me to switch off my laptop's wifi, but that sounds crazy. how can I connect to http://dstvwifi.local/ without a wifi connection?

Any advice?
